The global food price index has registered its highest level in a year


The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has announced that global food prices continued to rise in April, with noticeable increases in the prices of grain, meat and dairy products, which reflects the continued pressure on global food security.

The average FAO Food Prices, which measures the monthly change in international prices of a basket of basic food commodities, increased by one percent to 128.3 points in April, compared to 127.1 points in March.

Thus, the index increased by 7.6 percent compared to the same month last year, recording its highest level since mid -2023. (Sky News)
