Official Lebanon demands Washington and Paris to assume their responsibilities


The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, condemned the Israeli attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
He said: «The United States and France, as guarantees for the understanding of the endowment of hostilities, should assume their responsibilities and force Israel to immediately stop its attacks.”

He pointed out that “Israel’s continued undermining stability will exacerbate tensions and put the region in front of real dangers that threaten its security and stability.”

The “Call of the homeland” stated that Lebanon immediately continued with the Committee to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, to contain matters and prevent escalation, while government sources stressed the need to seek to stop the Israeli attacks and prevent undermining the security of citizens and working with the countries concerned to pressure Israel to withdraw from the areas that are still controlled in Lebanon. The same sources also stressed the importance of working to strengthen the authority of the state and extend it over its entire lands, in addition to seeking to enhance the capabilities of the state and the army in order to complete its deployment and full control in the south and in various regions.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called on the “sponsoring states of the security arrangements to stop hostilities, to move to stop these attacks and accelerate the full” Israeli “withdrawal from Lebanese territory. He also stressed that «Lebanon is committed to the provisions of Resolution 1701 completely and the agreement of security arrangements, and that the Lebanese army continues its work and expands its spread in the south, as in all other Lebanese lands, to extend the state’s authority, and limit weapons in its hands alone.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on the sponsoring countries to stop hostilities, to “pressure Israel to stop its repeated attacks and violations of the Security Council Resolution 1701, and the obligations related to security arrangements, as it undermines regional peace and security and the efforts of the Lebanese state to preserve national sovereignty.” She emphasized that the ministry will continue its “contacts with brotherly and friendly countries to put an end to these violations, and the withdrawal of Israel from the Lebanese regions and points that are still occupying it, while Lebanon’s emphasis on its commitment to international legitimacy decisions, especially Resolution 1701 in all its levels.”
