About the shelters of Israel and Lebanon .. Here is what a prominent general said

An Israeli general stressed that the issue of achieving victory in the Gaza Strip is mainly linked to the presence of shelters in the settlements, explaining that “this victory will not be achieved as long as the shelters remain.”

Gen. Hazi Nahama said in an interview published by the Israeli “Mida” website, that “there is a deep frustration with the situation in Gaza, because after a year and a half of the war, we could not return the kidnappers, and we did not defeat Hamas, and the situation cannot continue in this way.”

He added, “The real test of the security establishment lies in Gaza, and the world’s attention is directed to know how the war will end,” considering that “the way to achieve victory in Gaza can be occupied and cleared, and the destruction of Hamas and the return of the kidnappers, because the area of the sector is limited and under control.”

He stressed the need to separate Palestinian and armed civilians, impose a full siege on Hamas, and control humanitarian aid, believing that “this process takes three to five months.”

He pointed to “the evaluation of the security situation in Lebanon in terms of achievements and errors, despite what the army and the Mossad achieved there, but he claimed that the tactical method of raids is not sufficient, criticizing the lack of a security zone in southern Lebanon, which would prevent Hezbollah from working in it, describing the decision to keep five sites in Lebanese territory with a positive step.”

He explained that “these military developments were accompanied by changes in the military establishment, including the appointment of a war minister and new chief of staff, Yisrael Katz and Ayal Zamir, describing his predecessor Haaretsey Halevi as the main obstacle to the defeat of Hamas.”

He praised Zamir’s pre -emptive measures in Syria, Lebanon and the West Bank, but he stressed that the main test is in Gaza, “where a decision has not been reached yet, because Zamir himself has clearly declared that Hamas was not defeated.”

He criticized “the investigations conducted after the attack of October 7, because it was” contaminated “, and aims to formulate a novel that removes responsibility for the higher levels of the army, although the main failure is not only tactical, but also stems from the wrong perceptions that infiltrated the army in the past thirty years, including the progressive effects of the United States and Europe, and thus it has turned from a decisive army to an army that does not believe that the resistance can be defeated. Use that these perceptions, along with the exhaustion of Israeli society, prompted the army to adopt the approach of “tours” instead of resolving.

On the recruitment of the religious religious people, he claimed that “service in the army is a right and a duty for all groups of Israeli society, but he recognized the importance of studying the Torah, and the solution does not lie in immediate coercion, but rather in a long -term process that works to adapt the army to the needs of the Haredim, such as the establishment of the Hashemaim brigade, proposing temporary instructions for the hour, such as service on the border without the presence of women, to integrate the Haraid in the current war effort.”

He concluded by saying that “providing a discreet image of the Israeli security establishment comes through a clear decision in Gaza, a change in the army’s perspective, and the integration of the entire society into the military effort, a firm leadership and appropriate appointments, then the state can achieve victory, and restore security to its settlers, because the image of victory can be raised on the day when we stop building shelters in Sderot.” (Arabi 21)
