Minister of Education: Social Aid Decree is accomplished and published

The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Rima Karami, announced the completion of the social assistance decree and its publication in the Official Gazette, noting that the payment of dues will begin successively after the holidays.

Karami confirmed, in a statement, that she adhered to what was stated in the ministerial statement in terms of improving the working conditions of the educational body, by securing the continuation of social assistance and partial correction of wages, to the official approval of the decree.

She stressed that the delay that occurred in issuing the decree and paying the dues was for reasons beyond the will of the ministry and its powers, stressing that it will continue to inform representatives of the links and those concerned with developments related to payment through official statements issued exclusively from the media site of the ministry.

According to the decree, the officials of official education owners receive a temporary monthly compensation equivalent to 13 salaries, in addition to the compensation of perseverance, provided that the conditions for benefiting from it are determined by a decision issued by the minister. The managers of official institutions also grant additional compensation by 10% to the assigned managers and 15% for those appointed, provided that these effects apply from February 1, 2025.

As for the hourly contractors, they are given a temporary compensation, the 11-time primary wage is doubled from the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year, then an additional additional compensation is added to this amount starting from February 2025, raising the wage to 22 times. These increases include contractors in basic, secondary and vocational education, in addition to workers at the expense of funds and parents’ councils.

Users also benefit from mechanized workers, guards, servants, drivers and other workers in official educational institutions from temporary compensation similar to the owners, according to their functions and groups.

The Ministry of Education pointed out that it had completed the tables of salary differences for the owners from February until the end of May 2025, including the additional eight salaries and the compensation of the plates, in addition to the dues of the first chapter of the contractors and the transportation allowance.

She emphasized that work is underway to overcome obstacles to payment for users at the expense of school funds and mutual funds, provided that the payment of the amounts due begins after the holidays according to the emerging mechanisms and the capabilities available in the Ministry of Finance.

Minister Karami reaffirmed that her first and last goal is the interest of the student and the upcoming school, especially in light of the effects of the war that led to a great educational and psychological loss.
