I always think of who will succeed me in the ruling

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in statements broadcast on Sunday that he is always thinking about those who will succeed him in the ruling, noting that a competition between several candidates was held.

Putin, the owner of the longest service period at the head of the Kremlin since Joseph Stalin, held the position of president from 1999 to 2008, then he became prime minister until 2012, then again from 2012 until now.

Putin was an officer of the rank of Kulonnell in the Soviet intelligence (KGB), and the presidency was received from Boris Yeltsin on his last day in the position in 1999.

When asked if he was thinking about the issue of his succession, during a movie prepared by Russian television on the occasion of the quarter -century, he said, Putin, 72, said: “I always think about this.”

He added: “In the end, the choice will be for the people, the Russian people. I think there should be a person, or rather several people, so that the people have a choice.”

There is no clear successor to Putin, but under the Russian constitution, the Prime Minister shall assume the presidential authorities if the president becomes unable to perform his duties.
