What is the reason for the violent explosion in the port of Bandar Abbas, Iran? Initial investigations reveal


The Director General of the Crisis Management in the Iranian Governorate of Hormuzakan, Mahdadad Hassan Zadeh, explained that the initial investigations into the violent explosion that shook the port of the “martyr Rajai” west of Bandar Abbas, indicating that the accident was caused by the explosion of a number of containers stored in the port. He stressed that the site evacuation and transportation of the injured are still ongoing.

For his part, the Director General of the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Hormuzakan, Mukhtar Sahmashor, stated that the rapid evaluation teams rushed to the site of the accident, noting that the detailed investigations are still continuing, and that the priority is currently to address the effects of the explosion.

In the same context, the customs of the Islamic Republic of Iran explained that the explosion may be caused by the storage of dangerous and chemical materials in the container square of the Ports and Maritime Navigation Organization, noting that the accident occurred two kilometers from the customs building, which resulted in the injury of a number of employees due to the fall of equipment and the shattering windows.

Iranian customs also issued urgent instructions to all customs offices to stop sending export shipments and crossing to the port of the martyr Rajai until further notice.

It is noteworthy that the huge explosion, which occurred today, Saturday, killed a number of people and wounded more than 500 others, according to the initial outcome. (Russia today)
