New incident of dead fish in the Bekaa .. a statement from agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture announced, in a statement, that “after a complaint was received to the Ministry of Agriculture about the sale of waterfalls in the market, which comes from farms located on the banks of the Orontes River in the Hermel area, the Ministry moved through the Baalbek-Hermel Agriculture Authority immediately, as its specialized teams carried out a comprehensive field survey of all fish farms in the region.

During the detection, the health status of fish and farms was verified, and direct communication with farms owners was verified to inform them of the health measures to be adhered to to combat this phenomenon. Warning pledges were also signed by the strict adherence to the conditions and health standards.

In parallel, the Ministry of Agriculture has transferred the file to other concerned agencies, each within its jurisdiction, to ensure active follow -up and prosecute the violators.

The Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that “the follow -up is continuous and reluctant, given the danger that this issue represents on food safety and public health, as well as protecting the reputation of Lebanese production in the local and foreign markets.”
