Iraq moves 220 thousand tons of wheat to Syria

The Director General of the General Grain Corporation announced that Iraq will transfer 220 thousand tons of wheat to the Syrian people as a “gift”, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

Syrian officials in the new government added: “Although wheat imports and other basic materials are not subject to US sanctions and United Nations sanctions, the challenges that impede the provision of the necessary funding to conclude commercial agreements that prevent global suppliers from selling products to Syria.”
