How many municipalities in Lebanon? Unexpected financial surprise

According to Decree No. 14492 issued on 12/18/2024, the revenues of the independent municipal fund were distributed for the year 2022 to the existing and existing municipalities, and the distribution came as follows:

– 78% are distributed relatively on the basis of the population registered in personal status records in each municipality.

– 22% is distributed on the basis of the actual result of its direct fees during the two years before the year of distribution.

– 10% is distributed equally to the municipalities that are equal to or the registered population is less than 4000 people, and the percentage of their direct fees collected during the two years before the distribution year does not exceed one billion pounds.

In the Bekaa, there are 87 municipalities, while there are 45 municipalities with less than 250 million pounds.

In Palbak Hermel, there are 84 municipalities, while 44 of which are revenues less than 250 million pounds, while in the north there are 154 municipalities, 91 of which are revenues less than 250 million pounds.

In the south, there are 153 municipalities, 89 of which are revenue less than 250 million pounds.

In Nabatieh, there are 119 municipalities, 35 of which are revenues less than 250 million pounds.

Accordingly, it becomes clear that Lebanon has 1065 municipalities, 529 of which are revenues less than 250 million pounds, or 50%. (International Information)
