Is there any support or aid?

A scenes active diplomatic movement on the Lebanese file is registered, in which different desires intersect influential international powers. While some countries are working to open support channels for Lebanon with the aim of facilitating the economic advancement and helping the government to overcome the critical stage, other Western countries seek to curb any serious assistance before the next parliamentary entitlement.

Parallel tracks reflect an international division in the Lebanese file approach. The first track, which is the most prominent in certain countries in the region and some Western capitals, sees that the success of the current presidential era – which is not classified within the axis of reluctance – requires rapid financial and technical reinforcement, especially as it shows an commitment to the state’s discourse and institutions and openness to the international community. Consequently, achieving concrete achievements during his reign is an internal political pressure tool, and a message that a different path is possible in Lebanon.
On the other hand, there is an international trend in exchange for refusing to open the doors of support at this stage, and it is considered that any assistance will now be a strengthening of a specific camp before the parliamentary elections. This team prefers to wait to monitor the upcoming political balances, and believes that pushing for the advancement before the parliamentary entitlement may be explained as an early position that affects the election results.
In light of this contradiction, Lebanon stands at the anxious observer’s position, between countries that pushed towards conditional support to perpetuate a specific political trend, and others prefer to keep the situation rigid until it becomes clear the image of the next stage.
