Algeria, on Monday evening, defended its “sovereign” decision to expel 12 employees at the French embassy, blaming the French Interior Minister Bruno Rotayo “full responsibility” for this new tension in relations between the two countries.
The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, in a statement, that the state took a “sovereign basis as a decision to consider 12 employees working in the French embassy and its consular representations in Algeria and belonging to wires under the tutelage of the Ministry of Interior for this country, unwanted persons with them to compel them to leave the national territory within 48 hours.”
