Ukraine shoots down 26 Russian drones at night

Ukrainian forces were able to shoot down 26 drones launched by Russia towards the east and south of the country, on Wednesday-Thursday night, according to what a senior army official announced.

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Olichchuk reported on Telegram this Thursday morning: “The enemy launched 28 Shahed 136/131 attack drones” during the night from the Russian Kursk and Cape Chuda regions in the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014.

He explained that 26 of these drones were “destroyed” in the regions of Odessa (south), Kharkiv (east), Dnipropetrovsk (east), and Zaporizhya (south), without reporting any injuries or damage.

Also, Moscow launched three Kai-H-22 cruise missiles and a Kai-31B anti-radar missile, as well as an S-300 surface-to-air missile towards Ukraine during the night, according to the same source, who did not provide additional details in this regard.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Russian bombing on several Ukrainian regions, including Kharkiv, killed at least 4 people and injured 28 others, prompting Kiev to demand to obtain more Patriot air defense systems from its Western allies.

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on his Western allies again to “accelerate the delivery” of F-16 fighter jets to his country, in addition to Patriot systems. (Sky News)
