A meeting of the Minister of Communications with representatives of information transmission service providers in Lebanon


In his first of a series of meetings that will be held at a later date, the Minister of Communications, Engineer Johnny Al-Qurm, held a meeting, in his office in the ministry, with representatives of companies providing information transmission services in Lebanon, with the aim of presenting the developments of the project to install solar energy systems in 358 sites affiliated with the Authority. Ogero” in various Lebanese territories through a donation provided by the Chinese government.

During the meeting, which was attended by Director General of Investment and Maintenance Basil Al-Ayoubi and Director General of Construction and Equipment Naji Andrews, the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation team presented various aspects of the project, and company representatives expressed their response and willingness to contribute to its success, by directly covering the installation of these systems in a number of locations.

Minister Al-Qurm stressed that the contribution of all specialists in the communications sector to the success of converting Ogero stations to operate on solar energy brings direct benefit to everyone in this sector, noting that the Chinese donation includes all devices for producing electricity from solar energy and does not include the cost of transportation within Lebanon and the costs associated with the installation of these systems. In all locations across the Lebanese territory, adding that through the implementation of this project, the energy bill for the communications sector will be reduced, and the quality of Internet and cellular services in Lebanon will be improved.

A meeting was held earlier in the government palace, headed by Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who blessed the project due to its importance.
