Israel is committing genocide in Gaza

The United Nations Special Rapporteur in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, indicated on Tuesday that she believes that the Israeli military campaign in Gaza since October 7 amounts to genocide, and called on countries to impose sanctions and an arms embargo immediately.

“It is my solemn duty to report on the worst that humanity can do and to present my findings,” Albanese said before the Human Rights Council, as she presented her report entitled (Anatomy of a Genocide).

She added: “I find reasonable reasons to believe that the minimum threshold indicating the commission of the crime of genocide against the Palestinians as a group in Gaza has been met,” noting that “more than 30,000 Palestinians were killed.”

She continued: “I call on member states to fulfill their obligations, which begin by imposing an arms embargo and sanctions on Israel, thus ensuring that this does not happen again in the future.”
