A Palestinian dies in an Israeli prison after 38 years in detention

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Authority announced on Sunday the death of Palestinian detainee Walid Daqqa in an Israeli hospital, after spending 38 years in detention.
Daqqa comes from Baqa al-Gharbiya inside Israel. He was arrested in 1986 on charges of kidnapping and killing an Israeli soldier. He was initially sentenced to death, but the sentence was commuted to 38 years in prison.

He was supposed to be released last year, but an Israeli military court added two years to his sentence on charges of bringing mobile phones into the prison.
