Will the IMF cancel the agreement with Lebanon?

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati received the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, Mahmoud Mohieldin, at the Serail, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Saada Al-Shami and Mikati’s advisors, former Minister Nicholas Nahhas and Samir Al-Daher.

After the meeting, the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund said: “My meeting today with Prime Minister Mikati comes within the framework of a series of meetings that I will hold with a number of Lebanese officials, to review the relations between Lebanon and the IMF, and the ongoing preparations for the visit that will be made by a delegation from Lebanon headed by the Deputy Prime Minister.” In the middle of this month, he will travel to Washington to participate in the Fund’s meetings.”

In response to a question, Mohieldin denied that the Fund had any intention to cancel the agreement signed with Lebanon.
