The situation of the energy sector today is much better!

The Minister of Energy and Water in the caretaker government, Walid Fayyad, confirmed in an interview with “LBCI” that “the situation of the energy sector today is much better than before.”

He continued: “The current production capacity is 600 megawatts and it can cover 5 feeding hours or more if the weather is moderate.”

Fayyad explained: “The cost required to operate all the electricity plants in Lebanon is 600 million dollars. We need between 1,200 and 1,400 megawatts.”

He added: “The Electricité du Liban worked to increase the electrical supply for approximately two hours at the outlets that had been removed.”

He stressed, “The company collects 90 percent of the hours billed across all Lebanese territories.”

He continued: “The electric bill includes two numbers, the first in dollars, and the second is the equivalent of the dollar in Lebanese, according to the price specified by the Bank of Lebanon.”
