We will hold ourselves accountable and study the messages issued by the people

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan admitted on Sunday evening that “his party did not achieve the desired results from the local elections that took place in Turkey on Sunday.”
Erdogan said in a speech to a crowd of his supporters at the headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party, “The local elections are not the end for us, but they are a turning point.”

He added: “Today’s elections showed that we are losing part of our popularity throughout the country. We will analyze the results and review ourselves. We will hold ourselves accountable and study the messages issued by the people.”
He continued: “We will, of course, respect the nation’s decision, and we will avoid stubbornness and acting against the national will and questioning the nation’s strength.”
He added, “The election cycle dating back to last May, which exhausted the Turkish economy, has now ended.”
