Here are the European Union countries that export the largest chocolate in 2023

Data from the European Statistical Office, Eurostat, showed that Germany was on the list of the largest chocolate exporting countries in the European Union during the year 2023.

The Netherlands and Poland followed Germany on the list.

The European Statistical Office said on its account on the social networking site “X” on Friday that European Union countries exported 867,000 tons of chocolate to countries outside the Union during the past year.

“This represents an increase of 2 percent compared to 2022 and an increase of 35 percent compared to 2013,” Eurostat added.

Germany exported about 221 thousand tons of chocolate in 2023, with its exports representing about 26 percent of the Union’s exports. Then the Netherlands came in second place after exporting 123 thousand tons, meaning about 14 percent of exports. Poland came in third place with 115 thousand tons, meaning about 13 percent of the Union’s exports.

These three countries, with the addition of Belgium and Italy, accounted for three-quarters of the European Union’s chocolate exports.

Britain was at the top of the countries importing chocolate from the European Union with about 315 thousand tons, followed by America with about 72 thousand tons, then Russia with 65 thousand tons, Canada with 31 thousand tons, then Australia with 27 thousand tons. (Sky News)
