Russia launches a spring military recruitment campaign

The Russian Chief of Staff announced on Friday that Russia will launch its spring military recruitment campaign on Monday, including thousands of young people between the ages of 18 and 30 years.
The army confirms that new recruits will not be sent to Ukraine, but the campaign, which is organized twice a year, comes at a time when many Russians fear new mobilization.

“The spring military conscription campaign will begin on April 1,” Vice Admiral Vladimir Tsimlyansky, a senior official of the General Staff, said at a conference.
According to Tsimlyansky, all conscripts will serve for a year on the territory of the Russian Federation.
He explained that “they will not be sent to the locations of the armed forces’ deployment in the new Russian regions,” that is, the four Ukrainian regions (Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhya) that Russia annexed in 2022, and they will not participate in the special Russian military operation.”

Russia has been launching an attack in Ukraine for more than two years, which prompted the Russian authorities to issue a decree to mobilize more than 300,000 people in the fall of 2022.
